Question 1

How does this ChatGPT Image Watermark Remover work?

Accepted Answer

ChatGPT (OpenAI DALL-E 3) embeds invisible digital watermarks in the form of C2PA Content Credentials manifests and EXIF/IPTC metadata packets into all generated images. Lumina inspects these cryptographic manifests in your browser and re-encodes the raw raster pixels into a fresh, sanitized JPEG or PNG copy with 100% of the ChatGPT metadata and C2PA watermarks removed.

Question 2

What watermark does ChatGPT / DALL-E put on images?

Accepted Answer

ChatGPT embeds C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) digital manifests and XMP metadata into image files. This invisible watermark declares that the image was generated by OpenAI AI models and includes timestamps, generator info, and cryptographic signing keys.

Question 3

Does removing the ChatGPT watermark reduce image quality?

Accepted Answer

No. Lumina preserves the exact pixel dimensions and high visual fidelity (94%+ canvas quality compression) of your ChatGPT image while stripping away the invisible metadata payload and C2PA manifest container.

Question 4

Are my ChatGPT images uploaded to any server?

Accepted Answer

No. Lumina is 100% client-side. The metadata inspection and watermark removal run entirely within your web browser using WebAssembly. Your images never leave your computer or phone.

Question 5

Can this tool remove metadata from other AI generators?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In addition to ChatGPT and DALL-E 3, Lumina detects and strips C2PA manifests, EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata generated by Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, Stable Diffusion, Microsoft Copilot, and standard digital cameras.
